## Overview

**BHIM QR** (Bharat Interface for Money QR) is India's national UPI QR payment standard, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) under the **Pradhan Mantri Bharat UMI (BHIM)** initiative. BHIM QR enables merchants to accept UPI payments via a static QR code that customers scan with any UPI-compatible app (Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay India, BHIM app, etc.). BHIM QR is fully interoperable with all UPI QR standards in India.

## QR Format
BHIM QR uses [QR Code](https://docs.barcoder.ai/docs/standards/qr-code) symbology with UPI UR payloads ([URL QR](../url-qr/)). The QR payload follows the UPI 1.0/2.0 UR specification containing the merchant's VPA (Virtual Payment Address), merchant name, and transaction ID. BHIM QR is fully interoperable with [PhonePe QR](https://docs.barcoder.ai/docs/standards/phonepe-qr), [Paytm QR](https://docs.barcoder.ai/docs/standards/paytm-qr), and all other UPI QR standards.
