## Overview

The **Eurobank Cyprus** app is the mobile banking app of Eurobank Limited in Cyprus, the bank that until September 2025 was **Hellenic Bank**. On 1 September 2025 Eurobank merged its Cypriot subsidiary into Hellenic Bank, and Hellenic Bank was renamed Eurobank Limited; account numbers and IBANs stayed the same [[6]](https://www.en.politis.com.cy/economy/economy-business-finance/954018/hellenic-bank-and-eurobank-cyprus-complete-historic-merger-on-september-1). The app is the old Hellenic Bank app under a new name: its Android package is still `com.HellenicMobileBank` and its iOS bundle `com.hellenicbank.HellenicMobileBank` [[2]](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HellenicMobileBank)[[22]](https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=1027704531&country=cy). It sends euro transfers by SEPA and SEPA Instant, international ones by SWIFT, and pays other customers' phone contacts through a feature called **Contact Pay** [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking). ## History

- **1976.** Hellenic Bank began operations in 1976, by its own 2017 group profile [[17]](https://ebrdam2017.mof.gov.cy/docs/HellenicBank_Brochure.pdf). Wikipedia gives the same year and adds that it was founded with technical assistance from Bank of America, but cites no source for that sentence [[18]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellenic_Bank).
- **5 January 2016.** The current iOS listing, now "Eurobank Cyprus", was first released [[22]](https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=1027704531&country=cy). We found no source for an earlier Hellenic Bank app.
- **3 September 2018: the Co-op takeover.** Hellenic Bank took over the operations of the state-owned Cyprus Cooperative Bank. About 400,000 Co-op customers moved across, taking Hellenic Bank above 550,000 customers; the Co-op's €7 billion of non-performing loans went to a separate state company instead [[13]](https://archive.cyprus-mail.com/?p=205061). Wikipedia dates the purchase agreement to July 2018 [[18]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellenic_Bank).
- **15 September 2020.** Hellenic Bank added Apple Pay for its Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards [[11]](https://ink.com/articles/209501/hellenic-bank-brings-apple-pay).
- **Mid-January 2021.** A rebuilt retail app, co-developed with the Dutch software firm Backbase, went live. Backbase said monthly active customers rose 16% in its first month [[12]](https://www.retailbankerinternational.com/news/cypriot-lender-hellenic-bank-introduces-retail-banking-app/).
- **2024 to 2025: Eurobank takes control.** Eurobank held 55.29% when it announced a mandatory offer on 4 June 2024, and 55.886% when the offer closed on 30 July 2024 [[14]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2024/08/01/eurobank-completes-mandatory-offer-process-for-hellenic-bank). On 25 November 2024 it agreed to buy 24.66% from Demetra Holdings and Logicom for about €493 million (€4.843 a share), which with other purchases would take it to 93.47% [[15]](https://www.cyprus-mail.com/2024/11/25/hellenic-bank-to-be-delisted-after-eurobank-increases-stake-for-e493-million). - **1 September 2025: the merger.** Eurobank Cyprus's assets and liabilities passed to Hellenic Bank, which was renamed Eurobank Limited; the mobile apps were to be updated within the first week of September [[6]](https://www.en.politis.com.cy/economy/economy-business-finance/954018/hellenic-bank-and-eurobank-cyprus-complete-historic-merger-on-september-1). ## Ownership & operator

The app is published by **Eurobank Limited** on both stores [[1]](https://apps.apple.com/cy/app/eurobank-cyprus/id1027704531)[[2]](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HellenicMobileBank). That company is the former Hellenic Bank Public Company Ltd [[6]](https://www.en.politis.com.cy/economy/economy-business-finance/954018/hellenic-bank-and-eurobank-cyprus-complete-historic-merger-on-september-1), wholly owned by the Greek Eurobank group since June 2025 [[16]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2025/06/27/eurobank-plans-cse-listing-after-hellenic-bank-acquisition); see [Eurobank](https://docs.barcoder.ai/docs/wallets/eurobank). It is a Cypriot bank, and is no longer listed on any exchange [[16]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2025/06/27/eurobank-plans-cse-listing-after-hellenic-bank-acquisition).

## Technical integration

**Transfers.** From the app's "Transfers" menu you can move money between your own accounts, to other customers of the bank, or to other banks in Cyprus and abroad. For other banks it offers three kinds of transfer [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking):

To pay someone at another bank you need their IBAN. Cyprus has no interbank service for paying by phone number: in September 2026 JCC was developing one with the Greek operator DIAS, modelled on Greece's IRIS, for a target of early 2027 that the press called "a target rather than a confirmed date" [[20]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2026/09/01/cyprus-eyes-bank-transfers-by-mobile-number-from-2027).

**Contact Pay.** This pays or requests money from people in your phone's contact list, by mobile number. You switch it on when you register for online banking, or later under "More" in the app; the person you pay must also have switched it on [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking). In December 2024 the bank described it as sending to "mobile phone numbers linked to an account with Hellenic Bank", in real time and free, and called it the app's most popular feature [[9]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2024/12/23/hellenic-banks-contact-pay-making-transfers-easy). After the merger the bank's page says it works "via Eurobank accounts" [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking). There is no QR code in Contact Pay that we could find.

**Phone wallets.** Eurobank cards can be added to Apple Pay, Google Pay and Garmin Pay for contactless payments [[4]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/digital-wallets).

**Fees.** The bank's table of charges, effective 3 November 2025, prices outgoing SEPA and SEPA Instant payments made "via former Eurobank Cyprus Ltd service channels" by amount [[5]](https://www.eurobank.cy/-/media/hbc/charges/eurobank-limited/table-of-commissions-and-charges-en.pdf):

The same table makes payments within the bank free in online banking (€5 at a branch), and incoming euro payments free up to €5,000 [[5]](https://www.eurobank.cy/-/media/hbc/charges/eurobank-limited/table-of-commissions-and-charges-en.pdf). It doesn't list a separate SEPA tariff for the former Hellenic Bank channels, which this app is. A November 2025 article about the app said transfers and SEPA transfers up to €3,000 were free [[19]](https://fastforward.com.cy/business/eurobank-service-your-hands-bank-your-side); in 2022, Hellenic Bank's free limit for SEPA transfers online was €1,000 [[10]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2022/02/04/do-everything-online-quickly-and-for-free-with-hellenic). Check the current table before a large transfer. We found no published daily limit for instant transfers.

**Devices and security.** The bank's FAQ says the app supports Android 7 and later and iOS 14 and later, and allows one registered device per user; registering a new device unregisters the old one [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking). The App Store listing itself requires iOS 17 [[22]](https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=1027704531&country=cy). You approve transfers with a fingerprint or face scan instead of an SMS code, can freeze a card, and get 3-D Secure for online card payments [[1]](https://apps.apple.com/cy/app/eurobank-cyprus/id1027704531). You need a mobile number registered with the bank to sign up [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking).

**What it covers.** All personal current, savings, deposit, card, loan and mortgage accounts, but not business accounts [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking). Businesses have a separate app, Eurobank Business Cyprus, first released on 18 February 2025 [[23]](https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=6511230901&country=cy).

- **Paying bills.** The app pays bills through JCC Smart Bill Payments, pays your own credit card, and sets up one-time or recurring payments [[3]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/mobile-banking). In December 2024 the bill-payment list covered 17 types of organisation and more than 1,200 accounts [[9]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2024/12/23/hellenic-banks-contact-pay-making-transfers-easy).
- **Paying in shops and online.** Cards in Apple Pay, Google Pay or Garmin Pay [[4]](https://www.eurobank.cy/en/personal/digital-wallets), and single-use virtual cards for online purchases, whose details are deleted after each use [[9]](https://cyprus-mail.com/2024/12/23/hellenic-banks-contact-pay-making-transfers-easy).

## Fun facts

**Active, under the Eurobank name.** The iOS app was updated on 15 October 2026 [[22]](https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=1027704531&country=cy) and the Android app on 14 October 2026 [[2]](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HellenicMobileBank). The Hellenic Bank brand ended with the merger of 1 September 2025 [[6]](https://www.en.politis.com.cy/economy/economy-business-finance/954018/hellenic-bank-and-eurobank-cyprus-complete-historic-merger-on-september-1).
