Overview
DBS PayLah! is a mobile payment wallet launched by DBS Bank, Singapore's largest bank, in 2015. It is one of Singapore's three major bank-led wallets alongside OCBC Digital and UOB TMRW. PayLah! supports QR payments via the national SGQR standard, instant transfers via PayNow, cross-border remittances through ASEAN linkages, and everyday financial services including bill payments, mobile top-ups, and investment products. The platform has over 3.5 million registered users in Singapore.
History
2015 — DBS launched PayLah! as a mobile wallet for P2P transfers and merchant payments, initially targeting DBS/POSB customers.
2018 — PayLah! integrated with PayNow, Singapore's real-time name-based transfer service operated by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS). This enabled users to send money using mobile numbers or NRIC/FIN numbers.
2019 — PayLah! became an SGQR merchant acceptor, supporting the national QR standard for interoperable payments.
2020–2022 — PayLah! expanded its merchant network across Singapore, adding features for bill payments, mobile top-ups, investment products (unit trusts, stocks), and insurance. The app transitioned from a pure payment tool to a lifestyle-finance super-app.
2023–2024 — PayLah! continued expanding cross-border capabilities through PayNow linkages with regional partners (Thailand's PromptPay, Malaysia's DuitNow, India's UPI via NPCI-International).
Ownership & operator
- DBS Bank Ltd — operates PayLah! as part of its retail banking and digital services. DBS is majority-owned by Temasek Holdings (Government of Singapore).
- Parent group: DBS Group Holdings Ltd, one of Asia's largest banking groups.
- Regulator: Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) — DBS holds a full commercial bank licence.
Technical integration
SGQR — PayLah! is a full participant in Singapore's unified QR standard. Merchants display a single SGQR code that accepts payments from any participating bank, wallet, or payment service (PayLah!, OCBC Digital, UOB TMRW, GrabPay, ShopeePay, etc.).
PayNow — PayLah! enables instant transfers using phone numbers, NRIC/FIN, or UEN (Unique Entity Number) as identifiers. Funds settle in real time between participating banks.
Cross-border PayNow — PayLah! supports cross-border transfers via PayNow linkages with Thailand (PromptPay), Malaysia (DuitNow), India (UPI), and Cambodia (Bakong).
Channels: Mobile app (iOS, Android), web banking for account management.
Identifiers accepted: QR code (SGQR), phone number (PayNow), email, NRIC/FIN (SingPass-linked), UEN.
Users & growth
- Registered users: Over 3.5 million (DBS Group annual report). Singapore's population is approximately 5.9 million, so PayLah! has significant market penetration.
- DBS is Singapore's largest bank by assets and branches, and PayLah! is one of the most widely-adopted wallets among bank-customer segments.
Use cases
- P2P transfers: Send money instantly to anyone with a PayNow-registered phone number or NRIC/FIN.

Status
Active. DBS PayLah! continues to be one of Singapore's most widely-used wallets, serving millions of DBS/POSB customers and extending to non-DBS users via PayNow. The platform is supervised by MAS and benefits from Singapore's strong digital-infrastructure and high smartphone penetration.
