Overview
OMT Pay is the mobile wallet and digital-payment platform of OMT (Office des Monnaies et Transferts), one of Lebanon's largest money-remittance companies. OMT Pay supports mobile money transfers, QR-code payments at merchants, online-checkout integration, and a loyalty-program feature that lets users convert reward points into cash or QR-payment credit. As of the latest available data, OMT Pay serves hundreds of thousands of users in Lebanon and among the Lebanese diaspora.
History
2013 — OMT launched OMT Pay as a mobile wallet to complement its traditional money-remittance business. The launch was part of a broader shift in Lebanon's financial services toward digital payments.
2015–2019 — OMT Pay expanded its merchant acceptance network in Lebanon, adding QR-code payments for in-store purchases at partner merchants. The platform also integrated with Lebanese e-commerce sites for online-checkout payments.
2020–2023 — During Lebanon's economic crisis (which began in 2019), OMT Pay saw increased adoption as users sought digital alternatives to cash. The platform added QR-code payment capabilities to its app, allowing users to pay at merchants and convert OMT reward points into QR-payment credit.
2024–2026 — OMT Pay continues to serve both domestic Lebanese users and the diaspora, with cross-border remittance capabilities to and from Lebanon. The platform supports QR payments and has integrated with Lebanese merchant acquirers.
